Food allergies can cause a variety of symptoms, including rash, headache, sneezing, runny nose and swelling. However, an allergy to food can also cause digestive issues such as vomiting or nausea. This is how Eva’s allergy to peanuts first showed up. When Eva was around one year old, she had a small piece of peanut butter toast. The exposure to peanuts caused stomach pains and vomiting. About six months later when Eva ate a small Indian sweet that was made from cashews, she had the same reaction as well as broke out in hives. This prompted her parents to take Eva in for allergy skin tests where she tested positive for peanuts and all tree nuts. After speaking with a friend that was already doing OIT with Chacko Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center and was having good results, her parents decided to bring Eva in for the treatment. She started her treatment in August. We are looking forward to following her progress through the next few months.
