Rush Immunotherapy

If you are prone to allergic reactions, you may have heard of a treatment known as immunotherapy: An allergy shot sequence administered over a period of 3-5 years. However, this may be too long a wait if your symptoms range from severe to life-threatening. In such cases, allergy patients living in the Atlanta, GA, area can visit us at Northside Allergy and Asthma for rush immunotherapy.

Rush immunotherapy refers to a significantly accelerated treatment plan, particularly beneficial for those suffering from severe allergies to insect bites or stings and allergic asthma, i.e., an extreme reaction resembling the symptoms of an asthma attack. Your experienced Atlanta allergist Dr. Chacko will administer several allergy shots during 2 visits, within approximately 2 weeks.

During each treatment day, you should expect to remain in our office for a total of 5 or 6 hours. This allows us to observe you after you have received the shots and take immediate action if you were to experience a severe reaction due to the extreme exposure to your allergen. We will provide a comfortable room and free Wi-Fi for your personal use. You might also consider bringing a light blanket and a book to read while you wait for the results.

WARNING:

Although it provides quick relief and is done in a safe and controlled environment, rush immunotherapy can be dangerous. It is, therefore, important to have a detailed consultation with us prior to beginning the treatment.

For more information on rush immunotherapy and/or to determine whether it is right for your individual needs, please contact us today. You can see your Atlanta allergist at one of our 5 convenient locations across Northwestern Georgia.
